Apply Your Heart to the Word

Incline your ear and hear the words of the wise, and apply your heart to my knowledge -Proverbs 22:17

Some years ago Janet and I taught for several days in a small campmeeting. While we were there, we noticed a young woman who came to every service. She used crutches and couldn’t walk at all without them.

One afternoon we taught the congregation to feed on healing Scriptures when they needed healing. That evening another evangelist preached. When he called for the sick to come forward for prayer, this woman was the first one to the front.

The minister laid hands on her to pray and the woman was instantly healed. Later she testified, “For a long time, I suffered with multiple sclerosis. I couldn’t even walk without crutches. The doctors told me my condition would only get worse. But I’ve been coming regularly to this church, endeavoring to feed on the Word, keep a good confession and believe God for my healing.

This afternoon I heard the message on the importance of feeding my faith with healing Scriptures. I’d been doing all I knew to do, but until then I hadn’t saturated myself with God’s Word on healing.

So, this afternoon, I opened my Bible and started studying healing Scriptures. I studied for hours. Suddenly, my heart got so full of the Scriptures I’d been meditating on that my faith rose up inside me. I came to church tonight and wrote inside my Bible with today’s date, ‘Healed by the power of God!’ I just knew in my heart things were going to change tonight.”

Now, taking hold of a miracle by faith doesn’t necessarily work this quickly for everyone. But how did this woman know her healing would manifest that night? She got so full of the Word on the inside that it produced faith in her that was unstoppable.

You see, many times we wait for God to drop an extra measure of faith on us. But faith comes from the inside. We cannot produce faith on our own. Faith only comes by applying our hearts to the Word of God.

CONFESSION:

Faith builds up in me when I hear and hear the Word. I hear the Word of God, and hearing produces faith in me.

Take a Daily Dose of God’s Word

For they [God’s words] are life to those who find them and health to all their flesh. -Proverbs 4:22

One day Janet and I were talking to a man who was badly in need of healing in his physical body. We advised him, “Feed on the Word daily. Take your daily dose of God’s medicine. If you’d take God’s Word as faithfully as you take other medicines, we guarantee you that there isn’t a sickness or disease that can stay in your body. God’s Word is medicine to all your flesh.”

The man replied, “Oh, I’ve been studying the Bible every day. I’ve been doing a thorough study on the book of Revelation.”

But the man needed to understand that every seed produces after its own kind. In other words, he needed healing in his body, so the best thing for him to study was healing.

Thank God for the book of Revelation. It will get you ready to go on to heaven. But if you’re sick, right now you need to know how to live in victory over sickness on this earth. So if you need healing in your body, feed on healing Scriptures. Whatever you feed on is what you will have faith for.

And realize that even if you fed on healing Scriptures last week, last month or last year, that Word gave you faith for your answer then. However, that doesn’t mean you will have strong faith for the answer you need today. Faith comes by hearing the Word on a daily basis.

“Well, Brother, I’ve heard that before,” I hear people sometimes say. When people say that, you can tell that their faith isn’t working.

You see, it isn’t what you have heard, it’s what you are hearing that counts. Even if you heard healing taught a week or a month ago, a lot of unbelief may have been pumped into your spirit through your ears since then. That’s why what you are hearing now is what counts.

So what are you listening to these days? A good dose of God’s Word or a lot of doubt and unbelief? The answer to that question makes all the difference to your receiving healing.

CONFESSION:

When I need healing, I go to God’s Word and build healing Scriptures into my spirit. My body is healed as the Word becomes life to me.

Recognize When It’s Time to Change

Now He could do no mighty work there except that He laid His hands on a few sick people and healed them. And He marveled because of their unbelief. Then He went about the villages in a circuit, teaching. -Mark 6:5,6

Jesus had been teaching and preaching all over the region where He grew up. But when He came to the part of His message proclaiming God as healer, no one got it. So what did Jesus do? He went back to traveling around the region, teaching the Word.

That was always the progression of Jesus’ ministry on this earth; teaching, preaching and healing. If the people weren’t getting healed, Jesus knew their faith wasn’t strong enough to take hold of the truths He taught. They hadn’t sufficiently heard the Word. So He’d back up and start teaching again, feeding them more Word to build their faith.

Notice that Jesus didn’t give up on the people in His own country. He didn’t say, “I quit. I throw in the towel. I’m done with you folks. That’s it—I’m out of here. I’m going someplace where people are hungry.”

Jesus knew when the truths He taught hadn’t sufficiently registered in people. He knew that the minute the truth did register, it would produce healing and wholeness.

Be smart enough to recognize when your faith doesn’t seem to be working in your life. If you’ve endeavored to believe for your healing but nothing is happening, you probably need to change in some area. Ask the Lord, “What should I change? What should I be doing differently?” Then back up and start hearing more of His teaching from the Word. Keep hearing it until you get so full on the inside that it shows up as healing on the outside!

CONFESSION:

My Father isn’t withholding anything from me. I hear His voice and obey Him when it’s time to change, so by faith I am able to receive what I need from Him.

Let Jesus Do A Mighty Work In You

Then He wet out from there and came to His own country, and His disciples followed Him. And when the Sabbath had come, He began to teach in the synagogue. And many hearing Him were astonished saying, “Where did this Man get these things? And what wisdom is this which is given to Him, that such mighty works are performed by His hands! Is this not the carpenter, the Son of Mary, and brother of James, Joses, Judas and Simon? And are not His sisters here with us?” So they were offended at Him. -Mark 6:1-3

When Jesus was in His own country, the people in the synagogue listened to Him, but they really didn’t hear Him. They said, “Where does Jesus get these things? What wisdom is this?” The people were offended, so we know they didn’t really hear what Jesus said, nor did they allow the Word to produce faith. They were listening, but in reality they weren’t hearing.

Verse 5 says, “And he could do no mighty work there, except that He laid His hands on a few sick people and healed them.” Think of it: Jesus of Nazareth—God manifested in the flesh, the One anointed with the Holy Spirit and power, the One infilled with the Holy Spirit without limits”--could do no mighty work there.”

The Bible didn’t say Jesus wouldn’t; it said He couldn’t! He couldn’t do any mighty work “save that he laid his hands upon a few sick folk.” I like the way Brother Hagin translates it: he says Jesus laid his hands “upon a few people with minor ailments.”

Jesus went in equipped with signs, wonders and miracles, but only a few people with a cold or the flu were healed. Thank God for the ones who were healed, but that isn’t what Jesus went to His own hometown to do.

Make sure you allow Jesus to perform His will in your life. Don’t just listen to the Word—hear it with your spiritual ears, and build up your faith to receive. Let Jesus do a mighty work of healing on your behalf!

The power of the Lord Jesus Christ is present to heal me right now. That power is working in my body to effect healing as I hear and believe the Word.

The Hearing of Faith

This only I want to learn from you: Did you receive the Spirit by the works of the law, or by the hearing of faith? – Galatians 3:2

I once heard a minister say that 99 percent of the problems we have living by faith or receiving from God result from a lack of knowledge. If we are having trouble receiving from God, we need to hear more word and get more knowledge.

Paul asked, “Did you receive the Spirit by the works of the law or by the hearing of faith?” Again, the hearing of faith produces miracles. God works miracles after we hear His Word. We hear, and then God works the miracles.

Why do we have to hear first? We do because when we hear, faith rises up, and faith is the spiritual force that releases God’s power.

 

CONFESSION:

Receiving from God is easy. I hear and hear and hear the Word until I believe it in my heart. Then I speak the Word from my believing spirit and release power to accomplish healing in my body.

Call on the Lord in Faith

For whoever calls on the name of the Lord shall be saved. -Romans 10:13

Biblically speaking, the word saved or salvation means the sum total of all the blessings bestowed on man by God in Christ through the Holy Spirit. Salvation also includes healing.

Knowing that, let’s word this verse another way, “Whoever calls on the name of the Lord shall also be healed.”

However, to receive the blessing of healing, we must believe Romans 10:14 says, “How then shall they call on him in whom they have not believed?” If we don’t believe the Word, either we won’t call on God at all, or we won’t call on Him in faith.

Many have endeavored to call on God without actually believing. There was a time when I was doing a lot of calling, but I wasn’t doing much believing; therefore, I wasn’t getting any answers. I prayed for two years without seeing any results. I almost threw away my sign that said, “Prayer Changes Things”!

Finally, I read Matthew 21:22. “All things, whatsoever you shall ask in prayer, believing, you shall receive.” I had missed that part about believing!

Also, notice that Jesus said, “All things, that you shall ask in prayer.” Well, healing is part of “all things.” Therefore, healing is possible to him who believes.

You must believe to tap into the source of God’s healing power. You can’t call on Him unless you believe, and you can’t believe unless you hear. That’s why hearing and healing go hand in hand.

CONFESSION:

All things are possible to me because I believe. I believe God sent His word to heal me. I call on the name of the Lord in faith, and I am healed.

First Hearing, Then Believing

For whoever calls on the name of the Lord shall be saved. How then shall they call on Him in whom they have not believed? And how shall they believe in Him of whom they have not heard? And how shall they hear without a preacher? – Romans 10:13-14

Hearing the Word produces belief. You can’t call on God unless you believe and you can’t believe unless you hear. That’s why hearing and healing go hand in hand. Once you hear, you can believe, and once you believe, you can be healed.

Romans 10:17 say, “So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.” Hearing God’s Word causes faith to rise up on the inside. When you release that faith, you get results. That’s why Mark 9:23 says, “All things are possible to him that believes.”

God made it easy for you. He said simply to hear and be healed. So, if you’re having trouble believing God for your healing, don’t try to work it up. Go back to the Word and “hear” what He said. Then just keep on hearing until faith rises up on the inside. Healing will be the result!

CONFESSION:

Because I hear the Word of God, faith produces healing in my physical body. Whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be healed. I hear, I call, I believe - and I am healed!

Sow the Word—Reap Healing

Do not be deceived, God is not mocked; for whatever a man sows, that he will also reap. -Galatians 6:7

Whatever seed you plant, you will reap that kind of harvest. God’s entire kingdom works on this principle. Whatever you sow in your heart is what you will reap in your life. So if you sow God’s Word on healing you will reap healing.

Many people are trying to reap a harvest of healing, yet they’ve never sown a seed. Hearing and healing go hand in hand. “Faith comes by hearing.” Whatever we plant on the inside, we will see on the outside. What we are, what we have and what we look like on the outside is a result of what we have – or haven’t – put on the inside.

I’ve noticed that whenever symptoms try to come on my body, it’s usually when I haven’t been putting enough of the Word down on the inside for it to manifest on the outside. So, I go back and study the Word.

Janet and I made a tape on healing several years ago. We received reports from people all over the country who, when they played that tape over and over, were healed. So, Janet decided to try it. We were on a plane heading for the Philippines when various symptoms attacked her body. She put the tape in a recorder and listened to it over and over again for about four hours. By the time we got to Manila, every symptom was gone. As Janet planted seeds of the Word in her heart, the Word drove those symptoms out. That’s the connection between hearing and healing!

CONFESSION:

Whatever I sow in my life, I reap. I sow the Word of God and reap life, joy, love, healing, protection, guidance, peace and safety!

Keep Hearing the Word

My soul, wait silently for God alone, for my expectation is from Him.

Janet and I recently ministered in a Sunday morning church service, where we told the people, “Come back tonight expecting God to do something. Meditate on the Word. If you need something from God, find out what the Word says about it. If you need healing, find healing Scriptures and meditate on them. Dwell on them. Say them out loud to yourself all afternoon, and then come back tonight expecting.”

Some people came up to us after the service and said, “Just give us a couple Scriptures, and we’ll go home and meditate on them.” Others said, “We’re going home to pray and listen to the Word all afternoon. We’ll come back tonight expecting.”

The people did what they said they were going to do. They went home that afternoon and did their spiritual homework. They schooled themselves in faith—and what a difference it made!

I’m telling you, that night we had church! People were filled with the Holy Spirit and many others healed—all because they took the time to hear the Word.

When you set yourself to continually hear the Word, you build up your faith to be healed, filled with the Holy Spirit and set free from fear. Whatever God promises in His Word will manifest in your life—as long as you keep hearing the Word and building your faith for it.

CONFESSION:

The same virtue that flowed out of Jesus to heal the multitude heals me now as I hear the Word and draw on His power. Jesus is the same now as He was then. He was the healer then and He’s still my Healer today.

Keep Teaching Others How To Be Healed

Now He could do no mighty work there, except that He laid His hands on a few sick people and healed them. And He marveled because of their unbelief. Then He went about the villages in a circuit, teaching. -Mark 6:5-7

Jesus had gone into His own hometown, and the power of God was present to heal. Jesus was anointed with the Holy Spirit and with power, but just a few in Nazareth received their healing. Most of them wouldn’t receive because their unbelief was so strong. So what was Jesus’ solution to that situation? (Remember, there is a connection between hearing and healing.) “He went about the village, teaching.” (v. 6).

When Jesus couldn’t get anything else to happen, He taught. Jesus did that all through His ministry. When He encountered the hard places, He’d just lean back and teach. When people weren’t receiving their healing, when He couldn’t do any mighty works, when no gifts of the Spirit were operating and no one was receiving the anointing, Jesus would teach and teach and teach.

Jesus is our example. When people won’t receive, just keep teaching. That was a major part of Jesus’ ministry, because when He taught people, they were healed. The only way to cure unbelief is to keep teaching the Word. Someone will take hold of it because there’s a connection between hearing and being healed.

CONFESSION:

As the Word becomes life and healing in me, I can teach others. The healing power of the Word works in all who hear.

Activate Jesus’ Healing With Your Faith

And He came down with them and stood on a level place with a crowd of His disciples and a great multitude of people from all Judea and Jerusalem and from the seacoast of Tyre and Sidon, who came to hear Him and be healed of their diseases, as well as those who were tormented with unclean spirits. And they were healed And the whole multitude sought to touch him; for there went virtue out of him, and healed them all. -Luke 3:17-19

During Jesus’ ministry, people who wanted their lives changed came to hear Him and be healed. Verse 19 reveals what happened when they came: “For there went virtue out of him and healed them all.” You see, the virtue, or power of God flowed out of Jesus to heal the multitude when the people operated in faith. And when did they operate in faith? After they heard the Word.

Once the people heard, their faith rose up and released the healing power in Jesus. But the power didn’t flow out of Him until after the people heard His teaching.

If you need healing or a miracle from God, you, too, can draw on Jesus’ healing power with your faith. However, the first step is to hear what the Word of God says. You must hear it and hear it with your physical ears until you can hear it with your spiritual ears. As the healing virtue flowed out of Jesus then, it still flows out of Him today—activated by your faith.

CONFESSION:

The same virtue that flowed out of Jesus to heal the multitude heals me now as I hear the Word and draw on His power; Jesus is the same now as He was ten. He was the healer then, and He’s still my healer today.

The More You Hear, the More You Believe

How then shall they call on Him in whom they have not believed? And how shall they believe in Him of whom they have not heard? And how shall they hear without a preacher? -Romans 10:14

Several years ago, I went with a group of five other ministers to India to conduct a ministers’ seminar for about 130 native ministers. Each of the six of us taught on a different subject. I had it in my heart to teach on healing. I taught for three and a half weeks, one hour every day. God dealt with me to teach most of the time on the Atonement—what Jesus purchased for us on the Cross.

On the first day, different ministers asked me to pray for their healing, but the Spirit of God wouldn’t allow me to do it. I told them, “Not yet; we’ll do it later.” Each day, another person would ask me to pray for him, and I’d say the same thing—“No, I can’t do it yet.” I knew that if I laid hands on these ministers and prayed for their healing, they wouldn’t receive. They didn’t know enough of the Word to have strong faith, because they’d just begun to hear the Word on the subject of healing.

The last day of the meeting came, and I taught on healing one more time. Then the Lord spoke to my spirit, It’s time to pray! But don’t you pray or lay hands on them. They are ministers, let them pray for each other.

I obeyed the Lord, and when the ministers finished praying for each other, I asked, “All right, how many needed healing?” Many hands went up. Then I asked, “How many received manifestations of your healing?” Hands went up again.

After these ministers had heard the Word day after day after day, they were ready to receive. They could hardly wait for me to finish the message so they could pray! They had heard the Word, and their faith had grown strong. They were ready to receive.!

CONFESSION:

Faith rises up in me when I hear God’s Word. I take time to hear His Word on healing, and  my faith increases and grows stronger and produces healing in me!

Faith – The Product of Hearing the Word

And Jesus went about all Galilee, teaching in their synagogues, and preaching the gospel of the kingdom, and healing all manner of sickness and all manner of disease among the people. -Matthew 4:23

Did you ever notice that in Jesus’ ministry teaching and preaching came before healing? You see, there’s a direct connection between hearing and being healed. The very best thing you can do if you need healing in your body is to keep hearing and hearing and hearing the Word of God. Hear it with your physical ears so many times that you finally hear it with your spiritual ears.

In Romans 10:10, Paul said, “For with the heart man believeth.” Real faith is of the heart—the inner man. You don’t believe with your head. The Holy Spirit didn’t say through Paul “With the head man believeth.” It’s when the Word of God goes down into your spirit—when the Word is mixed with your “believer”—that faith emerges. Faith is the product, or fruit, of your knowledge of God’s Word having moved from your mind to your spirit. When you put the Word in your spirit, faith is always the result.

CONFESSION:

With my heart, I believe whatever I hear the most—the Word. I choose to hear the truth of God’s Word. It’s easy to believe God’s promises because I keep hearing and hearing the Word.

Hear With Your Spiritual Ears

Let these sayings sink down into your ears; for the Son of man shall be delivered into the hands of men. –Luke 9:44

There is a direct connection between hearing the Word and being healed. Many people are not being healed because they are either not hearing at all or they are not hearing enough.

Someone may say, “Well, I heard the Word; I know what it says; but it didn’t work for me.” No, that’s not possible. The Word always works. Sometimes we fail to receive the benefits of the Word, but the Word never fails. The failure is on our part.

When Jesus told His disciples, “Let these sayings sink down into your ears,” He meant that you must hear the Word over and over and over with your spiritual ears—ears of your inner man—until those truths finally get down on the inside of you. Only then will you be able to receive the benefits of healing that are rightfully yours.

CONFESSION:

I’m hearing and hearing and hearing the Word. The Word is sinking down into the “ears” of my spirit so it can produce fruit in my life. The Word always works, and it’s working in me, producing health in my body.

 

The Importance of Hearing the Word

And [Jesus] was teaching in one of the synagogues on the sabbath. – Luke 13:10

Jesus’ teaching ministry was important. You see, His teaching of the Word is what caused His healing ministry to flow and operate.

Under Jesus’ ministry,  most people had to hear Him teach the Word to get healed. Luke 5:1 says, “Multitudes came together to hear, and to be healed.” That means most of the people were healed as a result of hearing the Word and then receiving by their own faith.

For example, Jesus said to two blind men, “According to your faith be it unto you.” (Matt. 9:29) To a centurion, He said, “As you have believed, so be it done unto you” (Matt. 8:13). Jesus told a leper, “Your faith has made you whole” (Luke 17:19). And to the woman with the issue of blood, Jesus said, “Daughter, your faith has made you whole” (Mark 5:34).

Many Christians are not healed today because they don’t take time to listen to the Word of God. They want someone to get them healed so they can get on with life. “Hurry up and lay hands on me so I can get back to what I was doing!” With that kind of attitude, it’s no wonder these people don’t receive their healing.

Take the time to hear the Word. Feed your spirit continually with God’s promises of healing and health. As you are faithful to hear and hear and hear the Word, your faith will rise up to make you whole!

CONFESSION:

I continually put myself in position to hear the Word, and faith rises up strong within me. As I act on God’s Word, I receive all I need to make my life full and rich with God’s blessings.

Healing Is God’s Idea

But my God shall supply all your need according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus. –Philippians 4:19

God designed the plan of redemption long before we were ever born. Remember, He called Jesus “the Lamb slain from the foundation of the world” (Rev. 13:8). In His plan of redemption, God provided us with certain benefits—salvation, the infilling of the Holy Ghost, divine healing and so forth—through the death, burial, and resurrection of the Lord Jesus Christ.

God gives us these benefits, not because of anything we’ve done, but because of what He’s done through the blood of His Son. We’re not pushing God to heal us; He chose to do it. It was His idea. We aren’t forcing His hand; we’re accepting His Word. Our part is to say, “Lord, You said You’d supply every need, so I believe it and receive it.”

Make sure you fulfill your part. Don’t be like some people, who look at God’s promise of healing and say, “Well, I don’t know if I can go along with that.” That’s like slapping Jesus in the face! In essence, those people are saying, “Jesus the Word says You shed Your blood to purchase healing for me. But my religious doctrine says it isn’t true, so I’ll take my doctrine instead.”

You can’t receive healing for your body with that kind of attitude! You have to come to the place where it doesn’t matter what you’ve heard or been taught. In order to receive God’s benefits, you must agree with His Word.

CONFESSION:

When I ask for healing, I’m not forcing God’s hand. Healing me is His idea! He made healing available for me. God’s way is blessed, right, healthy and joyous. I choose to believe God’s Word!

Healing Is A Fact

He sent his word and healed them and delivered them from all their destructions. - Psalm 107:20

Divine healing belongs to us. We aren’t waiting for God to heal us; God is waiting for us to take the healing that’s already ours. God wanted us healed so much that He didn’t just promise to heal us; He sent His Son to purchase our healing with His broken body. Therefore, healing is not just a promise—it is a fact!

Years ago, I looked at healing as a promise. Then one day I read, “Who Himself bore our sins in his own body on the tree, that we, having died to sins, might live for righteousness, by whose stripes you were healed” (1 Peter 2:24). He didn’t say you may be healed or you will be healed. He said, “You were healed”—past tense. It isn’t what God is going to do; it’s what He already did. The day I found that Scripture in the Bible, it turned my life around.

Healing is a fact. As far as God is concerned, His part is done. Now He’s waiting for us to do our part—to reach out and take what is already ours!

CONFESSION:

I want what the Word says and nothing less! I want God’s best, and that includes healing for my body. By faith, I reach out and take the healing that is already mine!

No Longer Just a Promise

As His divine power has given to us, all things that pertain to life and godliness, through the knowledge of Him who called us by glory and virtue. 2 Peter 1:3

Under the old covenant, God kept telling Israel about the Redeemer, the Messiah, showing them pictures of redemption in types and shadows. Thousands of years passed, and people continued waiting for God’s redemptive promises to be fulfilled.

Then Jesus came to this earth, fulfilling the will of God through His death, burial and resurrection. Under the new covenant, Peter could say, “His divine power has given to us all things that pertain to life and godliness.” What was a promise is now a fulfilled fact. Now God says, “I’ve done My part.” The responsibility to act switched from Him to us.

You see, if someone says to you, “I want to give you a book” but then just sits there, doing nothing, you have to wait to receive the book you’ve been given. But if he says, “I want to give you this book” and then places the book beside you, then it’s your responsibility to pick it up.

In the spiritual realm, we know that God “Hath given to us all things that pertain to life and godliness.” Well, healing pertains to life and godliness. So if we want the healing God has already given us, we have to “pick it up.” We don’t wait for God to heal us. We just reach out and take hold of what He’s already done. That isn’t forcing God’s hand. That’s saying, “Lord, You did it. I believe it. I take it!”

Thank God, we don’t have to wait until God completes the plan of redemption. We aren’t looking ahead to what God will do someday. We’re looking back to what He did 2000 years ago! He has already redeemed us from the curse of the Law. He has already redeemed us from sickness and disease. It isn’t just a promise anymore—it’s a fact!

CONFESSION:

I’m redeemed by the blood of Jesus, set free from all the effects of the curse. Sickness and disease are no longer a part of my job description. I’m free!

Healing – The Children’s Bread

I have been young, and now am old: Yet I have not seen the righteous forsaken, nor his descendants begging bread. Psalm 37:25

God doesn’t want His children begging for what already belongs to them. To the woman of Caanan who begged Him to heal her daughter, Jesus said, “It is not meet to take the children’s bread and to cast it to dogs.” (Matt. 15:26)

So according to Jesus, healing is the children’s bread.

Healing belongs to us. It is part of our redemption, our covenant, our spiritual  inheritance. It belongs to us as blood-bought, new creatures in Christ.

When a believer begs for healing, God doesn’t have the slightest idea why. God says, “Child, healing belongs to you; it’s yours!" When you accepted Jesus, He became your Healer. You don’t have to beg.

So get the revelation in your heart that as God’s child, healing is your “bread.” That’s 99 percent of the battle right there!

CONFESSION:

As a joint-heir with Jesus Christ, I have a covenant right to receive healing and to walk in divine health. I receive my inheritance of healing by faith. Healing belongs to me!

Healed in Order to Serve

And when Jesus was come into Peter’s house, he saw his wife’s mother lying sick with a fever. So he touched her hand, and the fever left her. And she arose and served them. Matthew 8:14-15

God lets us know in this Scripture what our motive should be for wanting to be healed. We should want to get healed so God can use us in service to Him, not just so we can go play tennis or golf.

Now, there’s nothing wrong with tennis or golf, but our primary motives for wanting to be healed ought to be first, because Jesus purchased our healing with His own precious blood, and second, because we want to be able to serve God with all our strength.

When Samuel was sent to anoint David to be king, God said something to Samuel that shows how important right heart motives are to Him: “The Lord sees not as man sees; for man looks on the outward appearance, but the Lord looks on the heart” (1 Sam. 16:7).

We need to keep our motives right. Wrong motives will keep us out of God’s blessing. James 4:3 says, “You ask, and receive not, because you ask amiss [or with wrong motives].”

So keep your motives pure and your heart right, and then believe God for your healing. Faith inspired by right motives for healing and health will quickly move the hand of God!

CONFESSION:

The main purpose of my life is to minister to the Lord, putting my hand to the work He gives me to do. I thank God for healing me, that I might be effective and unhindered by pain, sickness and disease.

God Is Willing To Heal

And this is the confidence that we have in him, that, if we ask any thing according to his will, he hears us; and if we know that he hears us, whatsoever we ask, we know that we have the petitions that we desired of him. 1 John 5:14-15

Physical healing is a great need in the body of Christ today. The greatest hindrance is not knowing that God is willing to heal. Hosea 4:6 says, “My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge.”

The marginal note in my Bible says that the word destroyed literally means “cut off.” So that Scripture could actually be rendered, “For a lack of knowledge people are cut off from the blessing of God.”

If we don’t know that God is willing to heal us, we are cut off from His blessings of healing and health. You see, faith must have a foundation. In order to confidently receive what Jesus purchased and provided for us, we must know it is our Father’s desire to give it to us.

God wants us to come boldly to the throne of grace to receive the healing we need. (Heb. 4:16.) That kind of boldness comes only from strong faith—a faith born of knowing the Father’s willingness to heal.

CONFESSION:

I am confident that God is willing to heal me. Therefore, I am confident He hears me and gives me the petition of healing I desire!

“That It Might Be Fulfilled”

When evening had come, they brought to Him many who were demon-possessed. And He cast out the spirits with a word and healed all who were sick. Matthew 8:16

What if God didn’t want to heal everyone who came to Jesus? What if a few people God didn’t want to heal slipped into that crowd and received their healing from Jesus before God knew about it?

No, that couldn’t happen. You see, for Jesus to heal anyone, it had to be God’s will, because Jesus only did what He saw His Father do. (John 5:19)

When Jesus walked into a multitude of people, He cast out all the devils and healed all the sick. He never refused one person; He never turned anyone down. He never said, “I’ll heal you later; you need to learn a few things before you get healed.” Instead, He always said things like, “I will—be thou clean,” or “I will—come and be healed.”

Jesus always healed all who were in faith. Here’s why:

That it might be fulfilled which was spoken by Isaiah the prophet, saying, Himself took our infirmities, and bare our sicknesses. Matthew 8:17

The Bible says Jesus healed in order to fulfill the Scriptures. Every time He healed the multitudes, He proved once more that God’s will is healing for all.

CONFESSION:

Jesus took my infirmities and bore my sicknesses. I believe that He is able and willing to hal me; therefore, right now I receive my healing by faith.

Getting Past the Invisible Wall

Th heart of the prudent acquires knowledge; and the ear of the wise seeks knowledge. Proverbs 18:15

After God healed me of allergies, I went through a real struggle the next time I needed healing The thought came into my mind, Yeah, God is able to heal me, but is He willing? (I bet you know what that voice in your mind sounds like!)

So when I prayed for healing the next tine, I said, “Lord, I sure would like You to heal me—if You really want to.” But I wasn’t healed, and I couldn’t figure out why. I prayed again, “Lord, here I am! You did it last time; why don’t You do it this time?”

I didn’t understand that I’d hit an invisible wall because, although I knew God was able to heal, I still didn’t know He was willing.

Then came the thought, Maybe God wants me sick for a purpose. I didn’t get that thought from a church or from a book;  it came straight from the source of doubt and unbelief. That thought came to my mind, and then it took root. For years, I had trouble getting rid of that wrong way of thinking.

That’s the point most Christians have come to in their spiritual walk. They know God is able, but they aren’t sure God is willing.

Your faith will never operate beyond your knowledge of God’s will. So root out wrong thinking that isn’t in line with the Word. Seek knowledge in God’s Word until you know it IS His will to heal everyone. Then believe Him for your healing. Take God at His Word and expect His promises to come to pass in your life.

CONFESSION:       

I’m so glad my Father wants me well. I root out every thought that would tell me otherwise! God sent His Word to heal me. And by Jesus’ stripes, I am healed!

My First Blog

 

This is my first blog and I want to let you know what I am planning. I am a believer in Jesus Christ and want you to know Him better. Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today and forever. Hebrews 13:8 If you believe that, then you are going to enjoy my posts.

There is a book that has changed my life. Mark Brazee wrote, "Prescription for a Miracle." It is a daily devotional on Divine Health that includes scripture, a devotion and a declaration for you to speak out. The devotions are what the Bible say about healing. I will be posting his devotions each day so you will be encouraged. It's amazing that there are 365 ways to speak on healing.

Whether you are sick or know of someone who is sick, please read these each day. It doesn't matter what the diagnosis is or what the doctors say, Jesus is still the Healer. What does matter is how you think about your situation. These devotions will train you to think God's kind of thoughts and it will encourage, give hope and give you a better outlook on life.

 

Our Creator and Our Healer

For I am the Lord that health thee.  -Exodus 15:26

For years, as a young man, I had problems with my throat It kept closing up on me. At times I’d almost go into a panic because it would become so tight that I could hardly swallow. I went to a doctor, who gave me various pills, but none of the medication helped.

Finally, I saw an allergist. He informed me that I was allergic to weeds, most foods, dust and other allergens that are hard to avoid. He began giving me regular serum injections, and for the first time in five or six years, my throat started to loosen up. I was supposed to take those injections for the rest of my life.

Shortly after that I was born again. When I was home from college for the first summer, I held youth meetings five to seven nights a week. We sang and prayed a lot at those meetings, but we didn’t have any real teaching from the Word. You see, I was the leader, and I didn’t know anything! I certainly couldn’t teach the Word—I didn’t even now God could heal!

Then my throat began to tighten again and I realized I hadn’t brought the serum home with me from college. As my throat got tighter and tighter, I kept thinking. I’ll have to go get that serum!

One day we were all praying together when I felt my throat tighten again. Suddenly panic and fear hit me. (I didn’t know I’d been delivered from fear when I’d gotten saved.) But then gradually, a deep realization that God is God began to rise up from my spirit.

I said quietly, “Lord, I’ve had this problem a long tie. But I figure that if You’re smart and powerful enough to put this body together to begin with, “You sure ought to be able to fix one defect like this. Would You do that for me?”

Within five minutes my throat had returned to normal, and it has never tightened up like that again. My healing came the moment I realized God could heal. It was a revelation that has changed my life. God created me—surely He could fix me!

CONFESSION:

My God is the Creator of the universe, and He upholds all things by the Word of His power. He is the God who heals His people, and He is the God who is able and willing to heal me!
